  Very quiet in rainforest settings, freshest air, you will quite likely find you have the whole camp site for you. Good toilet and day use area of picnic tables under roof.
  
  The nearby red knoll lookout is a must see, beautiful 360 view of lake pedder and Scott's Peak.
  
  Please do note that although this is a free camp, it is inside the South West NP and NP entry fee does apply. For total free camp site Edgar camp ground about 7km away also has good facility and closer to the lake, but without the same absolute tranquility and forest settings.

  Only made a brief visit to the camp ground , the provision of firewood is a great idea , lovely serene spot , will be back

  free campground right by lake pedder and by the trail access in the area. how could you not like it? a handful of campsites to choose from and there’s a toilet. we left our car here while we did 3 days on the western arthur’s traverse and it was fine

  Fantastic! Apart from the drongo that arrived after dark on Saturday night and decided that the day use hut was now his campsite. I had planned on sitting in there myself as it was raining, but I didn't fancy it with him there. The provision of fire wood and fire places, toilets, and even tank water is excellent. There is only one semi-private spot, but the rest are ok. I reckon it could be a bit full on, noisy, school holiday time, but apart from that it's fine. I was here third week of September, and apart from the aforementioned drongo, who at least turned his music off at 10pm which was quite considerate, I had the place to myself. In the words of one Mr. Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back.".

  Simple sites, great location. Many people start from here the Port Davey Track. You can also make a 1 day trek and then comeback if you are not looking for long hike. Please, remember to register your visit and plan on the book.
